Cantaloupe and yogurt smoothie ready to enjoy in just 5 min. This 2 ingredients smoothie is made from homemade yogurt and fresh cantaloupe that is part of the melon family. My family enjoys this cantaloupe and yogurt smoothie for breakfast, snack, or even dessert. We don’t add any extra sugar, spices, or flavors. Maybe a few ice cubes and that is it! Just simple, delicious, and nutritious!
Ingredients For Cantaloupe And Yogurt Smoothie
There are really only two ingredients for this smoothie as the name calls them out – yogurt and fresh cantaloupe.
Cantaloupe Or Melon
Melon is delicious and nutritious. We use the cantaloupe for this recipe as it has more Vitamin C and A compared to its relative honeydew melon. Cantaloupe is also rich in fiber, minerals, and plant polyphenols. Polyphenols have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, honeydew melon has slightly more carbs and more total calories than cantaloupe to weight the scale towards our cantaloupe choice for the smoothie.
Yogurt Or Also Written As Yoghurt
Yogurt is super nutritious and your guts will love those healthy bacteria that come with it. We make our own yogurt without special equipment or a yogurt starter. Check it out! We love so much our yogurt that we dedicated a blog to it outlining the broad nutrient spectrum yogurt has. Here is a quick preview of the yogurt nutrients: probiotics, calcium, protein, and Vitamins such as B and D.
Keto Friendly Cantaloupe And Yogurt Smoothie
Cantaloupe is low carb fruit that can be incorporated in a keto diet. However, depending on how much carbs you are allowing yourself to have. Just be mindful of the amount of cantaloupe you consume. This recipe calls for 1 cup of chopped cantaloupe so if you worry about consuming too many carbs, then just use 1/2 cup of cantaloupe.
Serving Suggestions For Cantaloupe and Yogurt Smoothie
We love the smoothie cold, so all I do is take the yogurt and the cantaloupe out of the fridge. My husband likes the smoothie extra cold so I add few ice cubes in it. If you have a powerful blender you can also crush some ice with the smoothie. I always worry I am going to either break or dull the blades of the blender if I add ice to the mixture. Hence, I just add the ice after I blend the ingredients.
Equipment
We love our 12 speed Oyster blender. I use it when I make smoothies for all the family members. I also like the smaller cup blender if I am going to make a smoothie just for me. The smaller cup blender is convenient for smaller smoothies as there are fewer items to wash and you just put the cap on the cup you used to blend the smoothie and you are all set to go.
With Covid-19 raging outside, we are not using a vegetable brush to brush all our hard produce. For example, we use the vegetable brush to clean the melon in this recipe. Using vegetable brush has become one of our steps in prepping food now. It just feels so much better to know that the produce is extra clean and not only from possible Corona Virus but also from other chemicals and stuff. I have the vegetable brush on subscription and get a new one every 3 months.
