These are super delicious fresh mozzarella cheese, pineapple chunks and dried fig bites also known as skewers. This is one of my dad’s favorite appetizers and I am super excited to share it with everyone.
Rich Flavour
I love these skewers as their flavor is super-rich. The cheese brings saltiness and the fruit sweetness to this mouth-watering bites. In one single bite, the flavors melt and blend with each other and are super delicious.

Substitutes for Mozzarella, Pineapple Fig Bites
I have made those skewers differently over the years. I like them with fresh pineapple too. Especially if the pineapple is ripe and extra sweet, the juicy sweet taste is super yummy. Some people don’t like figs. If you are one of them, I tried those skewers with dried dates and they are still very delicious and still healthy. I am a fan of the fresh mozzarella balls so I haven’t tried this recipe with other cheeses.
Equipment
There are very few things you need to make this amazing appetizer. Apart from the 3 ingredients you need to make the skewers, you will need toothpick skewers. I bought a box (about count of 100) for one of my kids’ birthday parties and still have some skewers left several years after.
Mozzarella, Pineapple, and Fig Bites
Ingredients
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese balls
- 10 oz pineapple chunks
- 10 figs dried
Instructions
- Wash hands with soap and water. Check out our article about how to wash hands properly
- Gather all ingredients
- Cut fresh mozzarella balls into halves
- Cut pineapple chunk into half
- Cut the figs into 4 pieces
- With the skewers toothpick, pierce first a piece of fig, then pineapple and then mozzarella
- The fresh mozzarella piece is on the bottom for the base of the bite
- Arrange bites in a plate
- Enjoy!
Notes
- You can experiment with the pineapple chunks. I like to half them, so it is not too much pineapple, but feel free to leave the chunk whole if that is how you like it better. Just make sure you have enough chunks for all the mozzarella halves.
- Same with the figs. If you like more figs into the bites, cut the figs into bigger pieces or leave them whole
- Same with the mozzarella fresh balls. You can decide to leave them as a whole
- If you decide to leave the figs, pineapple and fresh mozzarella balls whole (don’t cut them up), just make sure people can eat the bites. It might become a big bite to chew on
- We eat with eyes first, so in this appetizer I pierce the figs leaving their inside on top to show the pretty and nutrient texture inside the fig
