Juicing Is Healthy

Freshly squeezed juices are a healthy addition to your overall lifestyle. In this recipe, we make carrot and orange juice from scratch. Check out our article on how you can turn freshly squeezed juices into your best nutrient source friend. Have you considered drinking smoothies? Check out our article on what is the difference between smoothies and juices and how each can help you boost your health. Here is a link to our smoothie recipes.

Nutrient-Dense Carrot and Orange Juice

This freshly squeezed carrot orange juice is ready in 5 min. For one drink of 16 oz, you will get the whopping 1200% of your daily vitamin A needs (yes, you read it correctly: 1200%), and 152% of your Vitamin C needs. This juice is rich in potassium and calcium as well. What is not to like??

Drinking Freshly Squeezed Juice When Sick

I like giving my kids freshly squeezed juice rich in vitamins especially when they come down sick. The nutrients get into the bloodstream immediately and start fighting the illness instantly. This is one of the fastest ways I have found to boost their bodies quickly and powerfully.

To Peel or Not To Peel The Oranges

I like peeling the oranges for my juices because otherwise, I find the juices too pulpy and hard to drink. In fact, sometimes my kids don’t drink the juice if it is too pulpy and dense to them. I suggest to try out peeling and leaving the peel on oranges to see which one you like better. There are nutrients in the orange peel so you may as well prefer to leave the peel on. Sometimes, I will peel 2 oranges, and leave the peel to 1 and juice them all together. I still get some of the orange peel nutrients but don’t have to drink a lot of the heavy peel texture.  Also, depending on the juicer you use leaving the peel might be a better option. I have drunk orange juice with the peel on from big commercial juicers and the juice tastes great!

To Peel or Not To Peel The Carrots

I try to buy organic carrots so I don’t have to scrub them off prior juicing. I almost never peel them off – rather I scrub them off any damages or dirt. Some people may not like the carrot skin’s taste, but I am not one of them. I actually like to preserve as much from the carrots as I can. It also makes it faster for cooking, juicing, etc when I save one extra step. However, when I buy the big $6 bags of carrots,  they are not organic. In that case, as shown in the video, I end up scrubbing the carrots under running water to get rid of any pesticides, chemicals, dirt, etc.

You only need two ingredients for this juice: carrots and oranges.

Food Safety
